Advertisement Poster
Above is a final advertisement poster. It is very similar to the second draft we created and we are happy about how it turned out;
- Image - we feel was a great choice for the poster, because there is direct eye contact to the camera, which engages the audience as they will feel as if they are involved with the advertisement, making it more likely they will be interested. The fact they are standing close together connotes their friendship and highlights the 'band' image. Also, their fairly stern and blank facial expressions are a common connotation of the genre, and although we do not see these as much in the music video, we see them here. The black background frames the image well and fits in with the rest of the poster. It makes their faces, and clothes stand out significantly.
- Font - The font is continuous throughout the whole poster so there are no clashing of fonts. The font size varies quite a lot too. The album title is the largest and most obvious piece of text on the whole advertisement due to fact that it is important for audiences to recognize which is the new album in case they have never listened to the band before. Also, this is what they are promoting, the new album, therefore it has to be he most recognizable feature. As the latest track to be released, we but in italic large writing underneath the album title 'Includes the No.1 track Badman'. This will help those who may have heard that song but no others, to be drawn to the advertisement and more persuaded to buy the album. The release date was also important so we but this in large font to as audiences need to know when they can access the album.
- Colour - The colours are very simple with black, grey and white colour scheme which enables the image to stand out the most. Blacks and greys are a common connotation of the indie rock genre therefore we felt it necessary to use these colours.
Digi Pack
The above is an open template of our final digi pack. We couldn't photograph the folded version as we are waiting to put it into a album case. However here you can see the final images, layout and placing of everything. We are really pleased with the digi pack;
- Images - My group are really fond of the images we chose for the digi pack. The quality of the camera we used was brilliant and gives our digi pack and very professional appearance. Also the lighting in the images frames the band members very well and highlights their faces and the setting very well. The variance between each side in terms of images we really like, particularly the way the front cover image is a face on image which is the same one on the advertisement, but the way it links to the back cover as on the this one we see a image of them from behind. This gives our digi pack the creative edge and enables the audience to become familiar with what the band look like.
- Font - We wanted to coordinate the advertisement with the poster so there was a theme, therefore we used the same/similar fonts so they linked well. We didn't want too include too much writing as we wanted the images to do the talking. On the front cover we included the album name and the band name in white and grey font so they stood out against the black background of the image. However, on the back cover where the track list is placed, we used white writing for the font, as this is the most easily read colour font out of the others we chose, and so we could add a more interesting colour along side it to stand out, in this case, that was blue. Blue was used for the track number, although only a small amount was used, blue is a strong connotation of a males choice of colour, therefore we felt it the perfect colour to use.
